About Drying

Seed drying is a critical step in seed processing, designed to reduce moisture content to safe levels for storage and germination. High moisture levels can lead to mold, microbial growth, and seed spoilage, making precise drying essential for preserving seed quality. Proper drying conditions extend seed shelf life and ensure consistent germination rates.

Advanced drying systems use controlled environments to achieve uniform moisture reduction across seed batches. These systems employ technologies such as heated airflows, desiccants, and solar drying, tailored to the specific needs of different seed types. Automated sensors monitor temperature and humidity, preventing over-drying or damage to sensitive seeds.

Energy-efficient drying solutions are increasingly popular, as they reduce operational costs while maintaining high-quality standards. By minimizing the risk of contamination and mechanical stress during drying, these systems ensure that seeds remain viable for extended periods.

Drying is especially important for seeds destined for export, as international regulations often specify strict moisture thresholds. High-quality drying equipment ensures compliance with these standards, safeguarding the global supply chain. For seed producers, investing in reliable drying technology is a critical factor in maintaining a competitive edge in the industry.

More information about the Drying families

Conditioned Fluidized Bed Pellet Dryer

Fluidized bed dryers are superior in use for the conditioned drying and fluidization of seed pellets. After a pelleting process the pellets or encrusted seeds need to be dried quickly, efficiently and controlled by dehumidifying the process air, independently from any ambient climate. This unique fast de-humidification process prevents the cracking of pellets.

Conditioned Rotary Seed Dryer

Rotary dryers are well known for the conditioned drying and continuous movement of seeds after an extraction, liquid treatment (like disinfection or priming) by humidifying the process air; independently from any ambient climate. Thanks to this the moisture content of the seeds is reduced to correct storage conditions, so the seed quality is preserved for the next process steps.

Conditioned Seed Box Dryer

Seed box dryers are very suitable for the conditioned drying of all kind of crops like, plant material (e.g. umbellifers, pods) and seeds, by dehumidifying the process air, independently from any ambient climate. Thanks to this the moisture content of the seeds is reduced to correct storage conditions, so the seed quality is preserved for the following process steps.

Seed Centrifuge

Seed centrifuges are very suitable for removing excessive water surrounding the seed surface. By using this controllable centrifugal (spin drying) technology the subsequently drying process will be considerably shortened which is beneficial for the seed quality and energy use.

Seed Drums

Seed drums are the perfect logistic solution to move and treat for example your tomato and pepper seeds safely through the different processes. By using these drums seed leakage or contamination is prevented in e.g. disinfection, centrifuging or drying processes.

Unconditioned Seed Box Dryer

Seed box dryers are perfectly used for the unconditioned drying of all kind of crops like plant material (umbellifers, umbels or pods) and seeds, by using heated ambient air.

Unconditioned Seed Dryer

Rotary dryers are well known for the unconditioned drying and continuous movement of seeds by using heated ambient air. Because of this the water up-take capacity of air is increased, and seeds are dried. The drying process (drying time) is depending on the surrounding air conditions around the seed dryer.
