With the first season now completed, a technical evaluation was conducted in collaboration with SPH. Necessary improvements, repairs, and maintenance have been identified and will be addressed for the upcoming season.
In Luttelgeest, Flevoland in the Netherlands, Enza Zaden has established a new organic seed production site, focusing on seed crops like bell pepper, cucumber, lettuce, and cauliflower. To ensure efficient processing, they partnered up with Seed Processing Holland (SPH) to acquire their proven and trusted machine technology, including a seed extraction installation, rinsing channel, seed centrifuge and conditioned seed dryer.
The production process starts with separating seeds from fruit crops using our seed extraction machine, model EMM-1100. This machine efficiently separates pulp, seeds, and juice. A natural fermentation process is then used to remove the mucilage surrounding the seeds.
Next, the seeds are washed using our advanced rinsing channel, model EOA-1100. This system combines water and aeration to separate small fruit skin and flesh particles, ensuring high seed purity.
To reduce drying time, seeds are centrifuged with the DRP-4000 model to remove excess surface water. The centrifuge speeds up the drying process, making it more energy efficient.
After centrifugation, the seeds are dried in a rotary conditioned seed dryer. The DRM-4100 dryer that Enza Zaden uses ensures a uniform drying process by using rotating drums and air dehumidification and heating. This ensures that each batch is dried consistently, regardless of ambient weather conditions. By using these reliable and proven machines, Enza Zaden is guaranteed a stable production season, producing high-quality seeds efficiently and consistently.
